Property Description
This lovely church is an excellent example of Gothic Revival style of architecture. It was built in 1883 and an addition was added in 1930, most likely to add the kitchen and bathrooms. It is believed that the beautiful Gothic windows are original with original wood trim and in fairly good condition. The walls in the sanctuary are the original plaster. The ceiling in the sanctuary recently had the drop ceiling removed to reveal the original wood planks. The original oil chandelier is still hanging in the sanctuary. It is made of copper and formerly burned oil. It has been electrified and is still in the original place. The room behind the sanctuary may have been used as Sunday school rooms. It is obvious that it was used as a choir room. The closet still has choir robes in it and there is sheet music in another closet. This room measures 12 X 34. It has two sets of wooden accordion doors, perhaps used to separate the larger room into three smaller rooms. The accordion doors are of regular size doors with hinges for them to slide back and forth to open or close off the rooms. The center of this room has ten pews in the center section. The pews and doors appear to be in good shape. Beside this room, is a kitchen/dining room area measuring 16.9 X 16.1. The kitchen has a refrigerator, stove, and dishwasher. There are quite a few storage cabinets. There are two bathrooms. The Gothic Revival architectural elements of the building make it attractive for conversion to residential use or to remain as a church. It is a wonderful example of the construction of that era. There is a possibility for the building to be included on the National Register of Historic Places.
