The WE Field House is located one block from Main St. in the charming town of Lockhart, TX. Built in 1890, the Field House is a City of Lockhart Landmark building, and sits on .66 tree covered acres. WE Field came to Lockhart in 1855 with his family when he was five years old. In 1881 he established the general mercantile form of W. E. Field and Company. In 1883, the store occupied the rock building which still stands at the north end of the west side of the courthouse square. He served as Caldwell County District Clerk and Tax Assessor. He spoke spanish fluently and served as court interpreter.He was an elder and one of the founders of the First Christian Church in 1895. In 1890, the Field family moved into this home which bears his name.
